The scale of L&G’s proposed development is huge: 550 new homes. This will have a major impact on our Town, on its infrastructure and on existing residents. Developments of this size and scale should be planned for through the joined-up, District-wide Local Plan which is currently being prepared by St Albans District Council. This will allow local people to have a say as to whether Green Belt should be released for housing, and if so, how much and what new infrastructure is needed to support new and existing residents. It should not be the subject of opportunistic development by developers who are only interested in their sites and the profits they can make from them.
