All through the application documents, L&G extol the virtues of the development but brush off the problems with it. Part of their claim for there being “very special circumstances” is the amount of employment which will be generated by the construction work, but what about the impact on all of us of 6 years of construction traffic and noise at a minimum? Once L&G obtain planning permission, there is nothing to stop them extending the construction period for much longer in order to maximise their profits, manage rising costs or cope with shortages of skilled construction workers.
